Welcome to The Gambia Land Grabbing mapper! Our goal is to map and document all land appropriations and acquisitions by The Gambia's dictator Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh. When Captain Yahya Jammeh seized power from a democratically elected Sir Dawda Jawara in July 1994, Jammeh did not have a butut in the bank or a plot of land in his name. Since then he has systematically lay claims to woodlands, agricultural fields, residential compounds and other open spaces around the country under the disguise of Presidential farms and family businesses.  This site is dedicated to mapping and documenting all areas appropriated by Mr. Jammeh since 1994.
